A SAVIOR IS BORN

Christmas is a time when I will only make cards that reflect on the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.  He is my source of peace, hope and joy!

I had the idea for this card in my mind for a while, but when it came time to creating it, things didn't work as I had planned.  So, I spent a lot of time in trial-and-error until I came up with the final card!  Here's how I did it:

The angel was made by inking Hero Arts Starburst Lace with Versamark and stamping onto white cardstock and heat embossing it with white embossing powder.  The circle of lace was then cut into 3 pieces to create the body and wings of the angel.  I then distress inked the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress ink, inking heavier on the edges. I stamped the center of Starburst Lace stamp a second time to make the head of the angel.

The "swirly" background was made by inking Hero Arts Florentine Pattern with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink misted with Perfect Pearls Mists (in the Perfect Pearl color) and stamped onto white cardstock.  The angel was then adhered to this background with 3D foam squares.

The center Nativity scene stamp was inked with Versamark and stamped onto vellum, then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I then distress inked the edges of the vellum with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  This was adhered to the card using very small dots of Glossy Accents.

The solid blue background of the card was made by heavily swiping the Chipped Sapphire ink pad over white cardstock, then misted with Perfect Pearls Mist.

Finally, the sentiment stamp was inked with Versamark, stamped on a vellum strip and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

My prayer for everyone during this holiday season, is that all would experience the love of Jesus Christ in their lives and that He would remain in the center of all our activities and celebrations!

  2. I too am a follower of Jesus Christ, a mother of 3 adult children, & enjoy stamping as my hobby. I stumbled upon your blog & boy am I glad. Your cards are beautiful Theresa. It's nice to meet a new sister in Christ who shares my passion. I love lifting someone's spirit when they realize I took the time to give them something handmade from the heart. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Blessings to you...(Robyn in Dayton, Ohio) P.S.~ This angel would be perfect to make for each lady in my Bible Study Fellowship class at Christmas...I just happen to have all the supplies!

  4. What an absolutely beautiful card, and how clever to use the lace medallion to make an angel. I agree with the idea of the Christmas cards. It's so hard to find nice religious stamps. You were a genius to think of creating it this way. Thanks for sharing, and I appreciate your Christian views.
