PLAYING WITH FLOWER SOFT #2

Here's my second card using Flower Soft:

For this card, I inked my stamp with black archival ink and stamped onto the smoother side of watercolor paper. The image was colored with distress inks using a blender pen. Flower Soft was added for the dimensional look. The stamped & colored image was adhered onto a coordinating color of cardstock, then to my white cardstock base. For the "wood" frame, I cut an oval out of a piece of wood-grain patterned paper, then adhered to the card with foam tape.

I have been thoroughly intrigued by Flower Soft and the ways it can be used on a stamped image to make it appear dimensional and somewhat "lifelike". I'm not skilled at using it most effectively yet, but I sure have a lot of fun playing with it!


Here's the first card:

The size of the card is 5"x7". First, I inked my stamp with black Memento ink and stamped onto white cardstock. Then I colored the image with Copic markers, and added the Flower Soft. Then I fussy cut the image and adhered to a piece of patterned paper. (I wanted it to look like wallpaper behind the bottles.) This piece was then glued on to another piece of wood-grain paper. The window frame was cut with my Silhouette Cameo and was adhered to the card with foam dots. I also attached a piece of clear acetate to the window frame, but you can't tell in the picture. My goal was for it to appear like you were looking from the outside in.

FLY FISHIN'

My husband LOVES to fly fish!!! Unfortunately, he's had very few opportunities since we've moved to Central California from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. He'd be the first to admit that his "skills" are probably getting a little rusty....but it's still a passion of his!!

I made this card for him for Father's Day. (I know...I can't believe it's taken me this long to post it!!!) The card was actually quite easy and a LOT of fun to make. Here it is:

I apologize that I don't have a supply list for this card, but I can give you a general idea of what I did. The size of the card is 5"x7". Basically, I cut an oval out of a 5"x7" piece of patterned paper (I love the plaid!). Before adhering the patterned paper to the card, I glued a strip of adhesive-backed cork onto the white card base. The fish is a thin wood veneer shape that a friend's husband cut. (They're working on setting up a website, and as soon as they do, I'll post on my blog!) I painted the fish with Distress markers and was thrilled with the way it turned out. My husband informed me that this card is definitely a "keeper". ;D

GREAT BIG HELLO

I'm the kind of person that, when I make cards, I just start "creating" and see what comes out of it! Sometimes I have something as an inspiration, and sometimes I'm just winging it. Also.....sometimes they work out well, and sometimes.....well....you'd never see it posted here! ;D

This card I made based on a sketch challenge over at Hero Arts. And, this was the sketch I used:

I rarely use sketches as a guide for making a card, but I have to admit, I had a BLAST with this one!! Here's my card:

Here's how I did it:

The red gingham areas are scraps of patterned paper. The blue and red striped rectangles were made my inking HA Canvas Stripes stamp with Faded Jeans distress ink and Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler ink onto white cardstock. The stamped image was then distressed with Frayed Burlap distress ink. The kraft areas were made my inking my stamps with Versamark ink, stamping onto kraft cardstock, and heat embossing with white embossing powder. The blue "denim looking" strips is actually washi tape. I cut the shapes to match the sketch as much as possible, and adhered them to my 5x7" kraft cardstock base. I decided to add the red ric-rac, which I love! Silver star brads were added to the sentiment, which was then adhered to the card with foam tape.

WATCH GEARS WITH WASHI

I guess I've been on a bit of a masculine card kick lately! So, here's another one I want to add to my stash:

This card was very quick and easy! I used more of my homemade washi tape. (How To's on making your own washi tape is explained in my previous post, with a link to an instructional video!) The circle stamp was inked with Frayed Burlap and Faded Jeans distress inks (same inks as used on the washi), misted with water, and stamped on white cardstock. The circle was then distressed with Faded Burlap distress ink.


The washi tape was adhered to the white cardstock base. The circle stamp was adhered with foam tape.
