Simon Says Stamp Challenge - "Use Dawny's Sketch"

I made this card for a Simon Says Stamp challenge. We were given a sketch that we had to follow and this was what I came up with. The stamps for the background and flower were inked with distress inks, then spritzed with "pearlized" water before stamping. Unfortunately, the sheen doesn't show up in the picture, but it looks beautiful in real life. I'm really becoming drawn to the "watercolor" look of distress inks when they are misted with water.  Even when misted, the colors still remain vibrant.

All stamps used were Hero ArtsS5458, K5376CL497

Honey Bear

This is a card I made for 2 different contests/challenges:  Hero Arts August 2011 Contest and Simon Says Stamp's "Food and Drink" Challenge.  I've had the bear stamp for a while, but had never used it.  I had a particular friend in mind when I made the card.  Her husband is a bee-keeper (and she often works with him).  She's my main supplier for honey!  But, she also is a very sweet, light-hearted and loving woman who truly brings a smile to my face whenever I think of her.

Birthday Calories????

Here's a card I made for Simon Says Stamp's Card Challenge for this week.  The theme was "Food and Drink".  I don't have too many food related stamps.....except for this one.  These Art Impressions "Girlfriends" stamps are hilarious...great on cards for women (especially those with a sense of humor!!)

It's the Little Things

This was a card made for a 90-minute "Quick Card" challenge on Hero Arts' Flickr site. (If anyone really enjoys stamping, the Hero Arts group on Flickr is a fantastic group!!!  I'd HIGHLY recommend you check it out!  Here's the link:  http://www.flickr.com/groups/heroarts/The challenge was to make a card using the "little" stamps that come with a clear stamp set.  These stamps are generally used as "fillers" and not one of the main stamps in the set.  I used 2 different Hero Arts clear stamp sets:  "Thinking of You Messages" (CL140) for the flower "bunch" and the remainder of the stamps are from the "Find Joy" set (CL497).

Simon Says Stamp All White Challenge

This card was made for Simon Says Stamp's All White Challenge.  The card is actually a bright white in real life, but I couldn't get the right lighting when I took the picture. I love the look of the white with just a "pop" of color.  The sentiment oval was not my original plan for the card.  I ended up using a different sentiment stamped directly onto the card.  But, it looked TERRIBLE, so I had to cover it up! The only oval embossing tool I had was too simple for the card, so I decided to distress the edges for a little "oomph".  Not sure that was the best way to go, but it'll have to do :{

Masculine Birthday #2

This was another attempt at a masculine birthday card.  I was aiming for an "antique" look.  I often think that Tim Holtz stamps are some of the best for achieving that look.  I was concerned that it might be a little "dark", but my husband gave me his approval, so off it went!

Masculine Birthday

I always find it challenging to come up with masculine cards.  I happened to see this one in a Flickr group that features cards made with Hero Arts stamps.  There are so many incredible cards posted on that site, and I have to admit that I "copied" the idea for this card off that site.  I used Ranger's Antiquities Embossing powder (Verdigris) on the fern stamp.  The color of the Verdigris embossing powder is gorgeous!!  So much better in real life.
